What is ESN ?
ESN (Erasmus Student Network) is one of the biggest interdisciplinary student
associations in Europe. It was born on the 16th October 1989 and legally registered in 1990 for supporting and developing student exchange.
We are present in more than 424 Higher Education Institutions from 36 countries. The network is constantly developing and expanding. We have around 12.000 active members that are in many sections supported by so called buddies mainly taking care of international students. Thus, ESN involves around 29.000 young people offering its services to around 160.000 international students every year.
In synthesis, ESN:
- works in the interest of international students
- works to improve the social and practical integration of international students
- represents the needs and rights of international students on the local, national, and international level
- provides relevant information about mobility programs
- motivates students to study abroad
- works with the reintegration of homecoming students
- contributes to the improvement and accessibility of student mobility
- cares about its members
- values volunteering and active citizenship
- ESN in Business
The aim of the project is to form a strong bond between ESN Turkey and the business world to promote ESN and help ESN members express the importance of ESN Turkey when applying for a job or an internship.
There are two aims to this project and the first one is to promote the participation of disabled students in the movement to help international students. The second aim is to increase the number of disabled students who choose to study abroad. Thus, ESN tries to create a comforting environment that these students are provided at their countries.
The aim of the project is to create offices for ESN Sections to meet up with international students and to give the international students a place where they can go to whenever they have a problem or simply want to have fun. At the moment ESN Turkey has 2 MeetingPoints one in Istanbul and another in Ankara.
This project enables international students to work with ESN members to make the world a better place. Sections in Turkey create projects like helping children with no opportunities learn to speak English. Another example could be the Erasmus Forest project where students planted trees. Basically SocialErasmus aims to bring out simple humanistic qualities
Erasmus Student Network (ESN) is a volunteer, non-profit organisation that serves in 36 different countries, 427 local branches with its over 12.000 members. In this respect, ESN is helping around 160.000 students from all over Europe.
ESN Trakya is one the 26 branches of ESN Turkey. It aims to help Erasmus students that come to Turkey and meet their needs from their arrival to departure. One of its prior missions is to help students to adapt to the city and the university and continue to their education at short notice. Besides this orientation, ESN Trakya also organises various events in which our Turkish and foreign friends socialize. Thus, it leads up to development of acculturation that is one of the main and most attractive features of Erasmus.
ESN Trakya works simultaneously with the other 25 branches in our country. It organises mutual events and helps our guest students to visit more cities that increases acculturation.
ESN Trakya also aims to support Turkish students. Since most of its members are former Erasmus students, it has a great experience and uses this experience to help Turkish students who want be an Erasmus student. It organises meetings and conferences to answer the questions about Erasmus so they can have a comfortable Erasmus period and represent our university and country in the best possible way.
